These ancient forms have survived since the 4th-century Pallava Dynasty, a kingdom renowned for its valor and fitness.

The practice is designed to activate both the left and right sides of the brain simultaneously.
Based on the principles of Anga Shastra, training aims for a genetically proportional structure in height, chest, and bone.
There are 64 total Angalakshanas (warrior traits); completing just 8 of these transforms the practitioner’s physical appearance into that of a warrior.
Unlike other fitness forms, this neuro-muscular combination ensures oxygen and blood circulate evenly to every part of the body.
Training includes a specific set of warrior techniques: strikes, kicks, grappling, and evasive maneuvers.
Kalaripayattu training emphasizes physical strength and agility through specialized body conditioning, flexibility drills, and weapon practice.
Through Siddhamuthra, students learn to balance the five elements within the human body. This process is designed to eradicate ailments caused by internal imbalances.
Training incorporates Kshathriya Pranayama, a specific warrior breathing technique used during Meipadam and Karalakattai to connect breath, body, and focus.
